DID YOU KNOW…
Everyone has sinned. That means that everyone has thought, said, or done something that is not pleasing to God. As a result, we are separated from God by that sin. The Bible says in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
So what's the big deal? Because of sin everyone deserves death and an eternity in hell…but God wants to give eternal life and an eternity in heaven. BUT, this can only come through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Once again the Bible says in Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
God loves us and sacrificed His only Son so that no one has to go to hell but instead they can be saved and spend eternity in heaven. Romans 5:8 tells us, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
The GREAT NEWS is that it is easy to be saved. All you have to do is…
CONFESS your sins to God. Confession in this case does not mean that you are telling God something He does not know. It simply means that you are telling God that you see your sin as He does and you want to be forgiven. The Bible tells is in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
BUT... It is not enough just to tell God that you see your sin the same way that He does. You also have to REPENT from your sins. That means that you turn away from them; you give them up! The Bible says in 2 Peter 3:9, "The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance."
Finally, you must BELIEVE with all your heart that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins so you would not have to, and that He was buried, and rose again the third day just like He said that He would do. The Bible says in Romans 10:9-10, "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
So how do you do this? YOU JUST ASK JESUS TO SAVE YOU AND TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE! Romans 10:13 says, "for WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.
If you would like to be saved, you can pray a prayer like the one below or a prayer of your own. REMEMBER…It is not the prayer that saves you, but the prayer must represent the desires of your heart.
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe that you died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life and save me. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
